Florida Lakefront Property

by Grace Moore

Even though Florida is a peninsula extending into the ocean, there are still attractive lake communities and lakefront properties available to the interested buyer. Florida tourists flock to Disneyland and sea coast cities like Miami; as such, Florida lakefront property offers a less frenzied pace than the noise and action of coastal towns. Also, the year-round warm, pleasant climate makes owning lakefront property in Florida appealing.

Lakefront real estate in Florida can also be classified as a real bargain. For example, Tsala Apopka Lake, in the city of Inverness, is one popular place to fish for big bass. A beautiful 2,000 square foot home, with a fishing pier and a boat dock can sell for as little as $300,000. If you would like to buy an undeveloped lot to build your own home on, one acre of waterfront property goes for around $100,000.

Lake Okeechobee is the largest lake in Florida. Water sports, swimming, and fishing can be enjoyed on this lake, and there are a plethora of properties with easy access to the water. A three-bedroom home with front yard lake access and a boat house can go for about $300,000.

A recent Florida government plan to clean up Lake Okeechobee and protect its wildlife will go into effect next year. This will improve the quality of the lake water and possibly even drive up property values in the area. Lakefront properties in Florida exist in communities that are family oriented, slow paced, and reasonably priced. The year-round moderate weather is a huge draw for people who seek to avoid cold winters.
