Treasure Island Casino

by Shirley Parker

Even with limited gambling now allowed on certain Indian reservations in the neighboring state of California, thousands of residents still flock to Las Vegas every Friday evening to spend the weekend in and around the casinos. Those attending business conventions, which bring in major revenue for the city year-round, also usually manage to find time to gamble (unless they've been working trade booths for ten hours a day).

However, the Treasure Island casino offers many enticements, including slots and table games such as baccarat, blackjack, craps, roulette, and a variety of poker games. Newcomers are welcomed with non-threatening games, but gambling veterans will find much to challenge them. The high roller lounge has table limits up to $15,000 in a very private, comfortable, and posh atmosphere.

Those who have always wanted to bet on sports can do so in the Race & Sports Book at TI. You can take your friends and watch the action during your favorite sporting events, all while having fun and placing wagers on the outcomes. There's a reason Las Vegas is known for naming the odds on high-profile events, not that any oddsmaker is right all of the time. However, they get plenty of practice.

The Players Club

The Treasure Island Hotel and Casino offers a Players Club account to persons over the age of 21. A valid membership card can be used to accumulate points at slot machines and table games at eight member resorts, when properly presented. These points are redeemable for cash. Other benefits are provided; however, in all cases, rules are strict and enforced. For example, the club card cannot be loaned to other players in order to accumulate points.

Treasure Island Casino encourages responsible gaming and adheres to the American Gaming Association (AGA) Code of Conduct for Responsible Gaming. For patrons who may feel they are not handling gaming as well as they should, TI will give them the option of signing up for the Self-Limit Access Program, or provide brochures on the warning signs of gambling addiction. Employees are also trained to monitor players to prevent problems.
