Treasure Island Las Vegas

by Shirley Parker

Treasure Island Las Vegas had its grand opening in 1993. It cost $450 million to build the distinct three-tower structure of 36 stories. Of its 2,885 guest rooms, 220 are suites. Room rates can vary, but can range from $79 to $399 per night for one to two persons. There is a charge of $30 for each extra person. Suites can range from $150 to $2,500 a night. However, many visitors compare prices from various travel agencies before making a reservation.

Of course, TI (as it is now known) offers casino attractions. In fact, it has over 90,000 square feet of gaming areas. TI participates in the Players Club, as a wholly owned subsidiary of the MGM Mirage™. Players Club members must agree to strict rules that prevent misuse of the cards. Only those who have personally earned the points can exchange them for cash, show tickets, or complimentary rooms.

In addition to its spectacular entertainment events, Las Vegas is known for its many wedding chapels. Couples of all ages drive or fly to Las Vegas to escape the stress, hassles, and expense of a traditional wedding elsewhere. However, TI offers several wedding packages in its chapels, from traditional to outdoor. For example, the Enchantment package includes an outdoor wedding on the pirate ship. Features are the groom and "captain" waiting on board for the bride to walk up a staircase that is covered in roses. Guests sit along the boardwalk, while renegade pirates serve as witnesses, and even deliver the rings from the crow's nest, if desired.

A sweet and intimate alternate is the Oasis wedding. This area at TI is hidden amid lush tropical foliage and palm trees. It can accommodate up to 50 guests. With beautiful floral arrangements all around them, the bride and groom exchange vows under a white gazebo and walk under a flower-covered archway.
