Treasure Island Fiji

Just saying the name Fiji brings images of South Pacific hideaways and long lost dreams. Fiji is an archipelago of some 300 islands, about ten air hours away from Los Angeles or Vancouver, unless you also stop over in Honolulu. Treasure Island Resort itself is located in the Mamanuca group of islands, some 11 miles from Nadi. It can be reached by seaplane or by motor launch.

Treasure Island is about as friendly a family resort as anything could be. Children need to be at least three years old to participate in the well-organized and safe activities that are held for them for more than 12 hours a day. Children's activities include games, story telling, nature walks, splashing in the pool, and coloring competitions. Those old enough can participate in miniature golf, snorkeling trips, dancing, spear throwing, or spoon diving in the pool.

The resort's traditional Fiji-style bures (pronounced boo-rays) are houses that have been built within 100 feet of the beach. Each of the 67 houses is private, has its own bathroom, and is air-conditioned. In addition to the standard bure that accommodates three adults, or two adults and two children, a bure suite is available on the east side of Treasure Island Resort. It is perfect for a honeymoon, anniversary, or other personal celebration.

For those adults not yet married, Treasure Island Resort is the perfect place to exchange vows. Staff can arrange for everything--from the license, rings and flowers, to Fijian wedding costumes and warrior attendants. They can even plan a wedding dinner on the beach or elsewhere. This would follow the ceremony at your choice of exotic location within the resort.

The idyllic setting includes a natural marine park that surrounds the island. Windsurfing, scuba diving, fish-feeding trips, and much more, all entice the visitor. Food at the resort is famous for its taste and visual appeal. Upon invitation, visiting chefs from Australia's best restaurants introduce the staff to the newest cuisine items for addition to the menu.
