When you get married, you become a couple, a duo, and a set. It makes sense then that you would want a matching wedding band set. Couples will often coordinate the look of their rings so that they are visually compatible and complementary. Despite the fact that they are the same ring, the man's version will be larger and thicker to accommodate the size and shape of a masculine hand. The larger, thicker version will require more precious metal, driving up the cost.

If you are having trouble compromising on your matching set, or feel like you don't want to compromise, there are other ways to have compatible rings without being exact. If a woman wants to have diamonds, designs, or patterns but her fiancé does not, she can still have them without making the rings too distinct. If the bands are made of the same metal, they will still coordinate and look nice together. If you want different metals, but still want to match, you can choose the same design and the rings will still be consistent. No matter what you decide, make sure you are both satisfied with the outcome.
