Kansas City Hotels

by Richard Brown

Like any other larger city in the United States, the lodging options in Kansas City are plentiful and varied. No matter what your budget, you will surely be able to find a room in town that will fit your needs. For those visiting Kansas City from the east or west coasts, you may be shocked at the high quality of the accommodations for such low prices.

If your reason for visiting Kansas City is mainly pleasure and you want to be as close to the action as possible, you'll most likely want to reserve a room in the downtown area. While the accommodations are slightly more expensive than in the areas outside the city center, the convenience will be worth the extra money. Also, by staying close to the main attractions, you won't have to spend as much money on transportation costs.

Where to Stay

If business is what brings you to Kansas City, there are plenty of hotels within walking distance of the central business district. The Hyatt, the Marriot, and the Radisson are all quality options that are nicely located in the heart of downtown. Not only are these hotels convenient to the Bartle Hall Convention Center, they are also close to the Midland Theater, the Music Hall, and the Hallmark Crown Center, which is home to dozens of shops and restaurants.

For some individuals who will only be staying in Kansas City briefly, a hotel closer to the airport may be more convenient. Anytime you have an early-morning flight, it's nice to be as close to the airport as possible. Kansas City International is located just northwest of downtown and the accommodations there are generally less expensive than those in the downtown area.
