Scotland Golf TravelA number of well-known airlines serve the British Isles, although you may have to change planes to fly into Scotland. An exception is the recent addition by British Airways of an Atlanta to Edinburgh flight. Of course, you still have to get to Atlanta, so you may have to change planes anyway. With new security regulations in effect, expect to spend extra time at both ends of the journey. Another option is to fly into Heathrow Airport in London, and then take the train north to Scotland. Train fare itself is not inexpensive. However, it may be worth the cost, if driving on unfamiliar, high-speed motorways and under strange regulations is intimidating. Unless you have made the drive a number of times before, it should be intimidating. Accommodations near each golf course generally range from comfortable to luxurious. A few other possibilities include plain, but clean accommodations for those who would rather put their money into other aspects of the trip. An example of what the package price includes is the following: seven nights (double occupancy), full Scottish breakfast each day, greens fees, golf club rental, taxes, service and transfer fees, rental vehicle, luggage handling, travel documents, and more, as needed. Air fare is usually extra, but will be stated. Full Scottish BreakfastBefore leaving home, or even before making the down payment, it is worth asking to see the menu for a full Scottish breakfast. It can be heavy eating first thing in the morning, especially if you are used to a continental breakfast. Ask your travel agent if the hotel offers a lighter alternative to sausage, eggs, bacon, black (blood) pudding, scones and cream, and so forth. Many chefs cook their own version of a full Scottish breakfast that is not served every day. It is reserved for special occasions. ![]() Get all Golf articles via
