West Palm Beach Airport

by Julie DePalo

Over 6 million passengers travel through Palm Beach International Airport every year. This number rose even higher after the Palm Beach County Convention Center was built in 2003. Also, improved roadways have contributed to an increase in passengers, as this construction project has made the drive much more convenient between the airport and the city.

Passenger Services Centers and Facilities

There are a large variety of passenger services available at Palm Beach International Airport. At the Traveler Service Center, you will find an ATM machine, Florida Lottery Tickets, foreign currency exchange, stamps, shoe shine area and letter drops. If needed, you can reserve a conference room through the Traveler Service Center. The airport also provides facilities for the disabled. At any time an Airport Ambassador can assist anyone with any type of disability or with an issue of any kind. They can be found wearing a noticeable teal colored jacket. Anyone with a hearing impairment will have access to the telecommunication devices for the deaf (TDD).

Traveling Tips for Flying

When taking a flight, be sure and give yourself plenty of time. Allow extra time to contend with unexpected traffic delays. You should leave no less than 2 hours in advance. Try calling ahead to check the status of your flight, as your flight may have been delayed or cancelled. Also, make sure you bring your ID and paper or electronic ticket.

Airlines will generally only allow passengers to bring one briefcase or purse type bag and one item of carry-on luggage. Make sure your bag is able to fit under the seat or in the overhead compartment or you will have to check it. If you have not traveled in a while or have never traveled before, make sure you follow these steps before heading to the airport; it may save you time and a lot of hassle.
