Recumbent Exercise Bikes

by Julie DePalo

Recumbent Exercise Bike Comfort

Whether you are new to the exercise bike market or are an old pro, you can't go wrong with a recumbent exercise bike. The best feature of this bike is its chair-like cushion seat and high level of comfort. You are insured a great workout due to the fact that the seating feature prevents you from cheating. Unlike upright exercise bikes that allow you to rest your fatigued thigh muscles by standing up, recumbent bikes make it impossible.

Recumbent exercise bikes are a favorite among those with back problems. There are two types of seats to select from. The choices available are the bucket seat and chair-like seats. Both are equally effective and provide great back support with gel seats and backrests.

Features and Options

Some of the recumbent exercise bikes available have state of the art features. Recumbent bikes offer simple-to-use built in exercise programs. Even if you are not comfortable with the latest technology, you will find this easy to use. You can set your exercise goals on the display panel or may choose to use the quick start feature to get started right away.

Keeping track of your heart rate is very important when doing any type of exercise. Recumbent bikes offer heart rate sensors as a feature. You can monitor your heart rate throughout your entire workout or periodically. All you need to do is reach out and hold on to the handlebars. The panel in front of you will flash your heart rate and will indicate how hard your heart is pumping. If your heart rate is over a certain predetermined rate according to your age, you will need to slow down to meet the suggested range.
