Used Exercise Bikes

by Julie DePalo

Avoid Common Mistakes

When buying used exercise bikes, you don't want to make common mistakes. You don't want to skimp on cushioned seats and back support. Your comfort is what will keep you coming back for more day after day. Also make sure your bike is sturdy. Find out in advance that all floor components are intact and are in perfect condition.

Try not to disregard top of the line equipment. It is not the best idea to go with a bike because it is the least expensive. The less expensive purchase sometimes comes with a big price. My recommendation is to stay with brand name fitness products. Even if an exercise bike was utilized in a fitness environment prior to your purchase, it should be in perfect working condition at home.

Buyer Beware

Beware of the infomercial. Have you ever been woken up to the sound of drill sergeant-type ranting about how great a certain exercise bike performed? You were probably promised you could lose up to ten pounds in two weeks with the easy to use exercise bike programs. It's not a great idea to believe everything you hear. Your best bet is to test out the equipment at a local store or read authentic customer reviews about the equipment.

If you decide to visit a used equipment store to find the perfect indoor bike, find out policies in advance. Some used bikes may have return policies and warranty programs. These programs are great especially if you are concerned with making a faulty purchase.
