Reebok Exercise Bikes

by Julie DePalo

Popularity of Reebok Exercise Bikes

One advantage of an exercise bike is that you can exercise at your own speed while reading or watching television. Exercise bikes do not put stress on your joints, and lead to an excellent cardiovascular workout.

Reebok offers several types of bikes, upright, recumbent, semi-recumbent and dual action models. Each model offers different features, some basic and some advanced. The following paragraph briefly describes each type of bike so you will have some information before you start shopping,

Getting a Great Workout

The upright model is the largest seller of all exercise bikes. These bikes are great for lower body toning and cardiovascular workouts. The advantage of the upright bike is that it fits easily into limited spaces. The recumbent and semi-recumbent bikes are more comfortable than the upright models. These bikes have bucket seats and better back support. As there is no standing, you are forced to pedal. The dual action models enhance the toning of the upper body. In addition, you are using both arms and legs and the intensity of the workout is increased. These are upright bikes with movable bars on the arm handles.

As bikes have advanced through the years, in addition to measuring bike speed, distance and time, the newer models also measure fat burned and total calories. Measurements on some models also include resistance, pulse and heart rate. There are also some advanced models that allow you to pre-program your workout and store the information.
