Ojai Homes

by Jordan Weitz

When many think of Southern California, their minds wander immediately to the weather. Ojai, by far the smallest city in Ventura county, is nestled in the Ojai valley, sprinkled with sun and protected from harsh weather. It is not outlandish to suggest that this area enjoys some of the planet's best weather the entire year round. Taking the leap form casual vacationer to home buyer requires a greater commitment to the area's other, many joys.

Ojai represents the cultural soul of the Ojai Valley and it's where many of the area's musical and cultural attractions occur. Though many residents choose to live in the other Ojai valley area communities like Oak View or Mira Monte, buying a home in the city of Ojai has definitive value and long-term investment security.

Homes in Ojai tend to reside on less land than those found in the outlying estate communities. Over the past ten months, most three to four bedroom homes in the area cost between $500,000 and $750,000. Most Ojai homes in this price range were between 1,500 and 2,000 square feet.

To be sure, many new Ojai residents endorse the small city for what it offers on a community level. Ojai homes can be affordable, yes, but they're also apart of the area's dedication to land and nature preservation. Committed area residents are devoted to ensuring the sanctity of the Ojai valley as well as the integrity of city, itself. Part of buying a home in Ojai is embracing the community's values.
