You should start the process by contacting your local government to find out about the rules and regulations that govern the field in your state. Once you know what the state requires, you can begin to plan your own agency. You can, for example, choose to rent a space in a strip mall or office building, or you can operate out of your home. You will need advice on possible tax advantages and pitfalls either way.

Once you have a basic understanding of the travel business, have gained some experience in the field, and know the legal requirements about getting started, the next step is to look at financing. Depending on the type of agency you want to start, the money you need may range from very little to thousands of dollars. You can find information about small business loans on government websites or through your local government. You will have to determine the scope of the business you want to create including whether you want to hire employees.
