Free Online Fax

by Christopher Thompson

Strapped for cash, yet in desperate need of fax capabilities? There are solutions available to the general public. As long as you have access to the Internet, you can find several companies that provide a slim version of their online fax systems for free. I can imagine you're very curious about yet another free service. Not to worry, such companies can provide free services as these services are actually been paid for--just not by you. Many companies make enough money from subscription owners who purchase a monthly or yearly plan to provide a few free services to the average user.

Free services do have drawbacks, however. Primarily, there are usually limits on the number of faxes you can send and receive. Going over that limit could entail a bill you weren't expecting. However, if you're only going to send a handful of faxes a month, then a free service may just be for you.

eFax, part of California based j2 Global Communications, offers one such service. eFax provides several subscription services ranging roughly between $12 and $20 per month and one free service. The free service does have two serious limitations. First off, users are given non-local fax numbers. Secondly, users can only receive a maximum of 20 fax pages.

The bottom line for utilizing a free internet-based fax system is one of economy. If you don't have the money yet need fax capability, then a free service is the perfect alternative. You can always upgrade later if your financial situation changes.
