Timberland Boots For Sale

by Scott Martin

Timberland, one of the world's leading manufacturers in outdoor apparel and footwear, has long-enjoyed a reputation for providing comfort and durability outdoors. Nathan Swartz, Timberland's founder, began in 1918 as a stitcher at The Abington Shoe Company in Massachusetts, eventually taking ownership of the company. He and his sons started utilizing injection-molding technology to create fused soles in leather shoes. This innovation led to the creation of the first durable, waterproof boots, named the "Timberland," in the 1960s.

The boot proved so successful the that company name was changed to The Timberland Company. Today, Timberland specializes in casual, stylish shoes and boots, as well as rugged outdoor apparel. From its Massachusetts origins, Timberland has expanded to become an international name. The company has expanded its offerings of men's boots to include women's lines and outdoorwear.

Timberland Merges Style with Comfort

Timberland's line of boots has diversified significantly since its early days, as well. From the original six-inch boots to sleek roll-top styles, Timberland boots feature a classic, rugged shape that includes thick lug soles and either leather or nubuck uppers. Timberland's six-inch boots are traditional in shape--with a few extras thrown in. Some models feature wingtip styling or functional extras such as goosedown fill for comfort or Gore Tex® membranes for breathability.

Timberland's Classic line includes the Men's Union Flats, rugged, nubuck ankle-length boots. The Timberland Classic Chukka boot is slightly more refined, and comes in wheat-colored nubuck or waterproof black leather. The Chukka secures dryness and ensures comfortable wear--even over rugged terrain--with maximum traction. Timberland's Classic Oxford shoe takes the basic boot to new heights. Waterproofed and abrasion resistant, the Classic Oxford line laces quickly and features durable Taslan fiber laces. Even the shoe's hardware is rust-proofed, extending the overall life of the shoe.

Timberland's Euro boots are more fashion-conscious. These ankle-length boots are more streamlined, with stylish leather and fabric uppers--although they are just as rugged as other lines. Some feature straps and padded collars.

Scoring Points with Timberland Sports Shoes

Timberland offers a whole host of options for the athlete, from trainers and racers to casual shoes and court sneakers. The Mount Ranier line is perfect for rock climbing but flexible enough for daily wear. In suede, it's stylish enough for any event. Even racing towards a last-minute flight is easy in the Mount Ranier line, complete with a nylon shank that ensures support without metal for faster airport security checkpoints.

Among Timberland's other sports shoes offerings is the Iduion line, replete with a Gore-Tex SCR® membrane. This popular line offers a walking shoe with protection against moisture and cold. With Dri-Lex® fabric and featuring perforated EVA, this line also protects against moisture inside the shoe, allowing for full breathability.

Timberland's Emoto Royale line offers retro style with high-tech comfort, featuring Smart Comfort™ technology for traction and a multi-density insole. For lightning speed, the Expedite line offers agility and stability with a motion efficiency system and Timberland Agile IQ™ technology. For those who prefer their sports snowy, the Lizard Soft Shell line offers waterproof mesh from Schoeller® along with a zipper for easy removal and wear.
