Ireland Golf Tour

by Jordan Weitz

Golfers from Osaka to St. Petersburg, Florida, have been vacationing in England, Scotland and Ireland for their golfing splendor. Each region is unique and each course in the United Kingdom represents the region's love for the sport and commitment to its heritage. Ireland golf tours, however, are special in that most international golfers still think of Scotland as the preeminent golf destination.

Yes, the legendary course at St. Andrews in Scotland is worthwhile just by walking the grounds. But if you want to avoid the bulk of the tourists and focus on honing your game, Ireland is an ideal golfing destination.

First and foremost, a golf tour in Ireland is about careful planning. There are two methods by which to attack a worthwhile golfing experience. Firstly, an all-inclusive, agency-sponsored golf tour takes the burden of planning for food, transportation and lodging off of your shoulders. You should expect to pay a bit more for such services, but the ease with which you can travel and the amount of time you can devote to actually enjoying a hotel or golf course makes the service invaluable to many. A second approach might be to plan your own Ireland golf tour. If you want to conserve cash and have the time to plan and the confidence to travel independently, this may be the option for you.

As Ireland has increased in popularity for many golf enthusiasts (its beauty is not well-hidden secret, after all), visitors should arrange golf tours in advance of their trips. Tee times should be secured immediately if you plan on making such arrangements without the help of tour operators. As for accommodations, bed and breakfasts and hotels, which can be found throughout the country, allow visitors to enjoy the comfort of true Irish hospitality.
