Providence Island (where Nassau is located) boasts several world-class golf courses--most notably the Cable Beach Golf Course, which is considered one of the Caribbean's best. Many of the larger hotels offer tennis courts, with some also offering squash, racquetball, and shuffleboard.

If you're eager to explore the natural landscape, you'd do well to investigate the variety of eco-tours available on the island. Led by knowledgeable guides, these excursions give you a close look at native plants and animals. Bird watching is another popular pastime in the area around Nassau. In addition to the flamingo, the national bird of the Bahamas, you'll find 28 species that can't be found anywhere in North America or Europe.
