Gothic lancet windows are remarkable accents on some of our oldest buildings. Here in the US, examples of gothic architecture are few and far between. These existing architectural gems deserve our full attention when it comes to restoration and reconstruction issues.

Windows in gothic buildings are one of their most identifying features. To the purist, they must exhibit soaring graceful shapes-tall and narrow, with arching points above. This style represents the loftiness and grace of some of Europe's finest cathedrals.

Restoration of Gothic Lancet Windows

For those of us who are in charge of taking care of these buildings, the gothic lancet windows present a special challenge. Stewardship of these singular elements requires certain strategies. Replacing the glazing, restoring and replacing aging or broken panes, and reworking the frames all require the careful hand of an expert.

Luckily, there are many glass and carpentry studios across the country who have experience in repairing and restoring all kinds of historic windows. If you have a large project on your hands, but no good glass studio in your area, try checking online. Some of the larger studios accept projects around the country, and can bring a healing hand to your windows, no matter where you're located.
