Wichita Falls Texas Real Estate

by Patricia Cagle

North-central Texas is home to many quaint cities, one of which is Wichita Falls. Approximately 15 miles from the Oklahoma border and a two-hour drive from Dallas, Wichita Falls is conveniently located and a terrific place to settle down. What's more, the modest area real estate prices are easy on the wallet.

Wichita Falls was founded in the 1800s and is named for the Wichita Indians. A charming community seeped in rich history and tradition, Wichita Falls has a great deal to offer by way of high quality of life. Though it isn't as large as some of its neighbors, what Wichita Falls lacks in size it more than makes up for in personality and natural beauty.

One of the things for which Wichita Falls is known is its many bodies of water. Lake Wichita, Lake Arrowhead and Lake Kickapoo are a few of the area's most popular aquatic recreational spots. These lakes are especially popular during the warm summer months, when the cool water provides a welcome retreat from the area heat. In addition, Wichita Falls is host to a large number of waterfalls. Although the ones in place today are man-made, as they were erected to replace the natural falls that were washed away by floods in the 1800s.

As a border town, Wichita Falls under the "Texahoma" moniker shared by many of the area cities. It is not uncommon for many Wichita Fall residents to actually work in Oklahoma (and vice versa). All-in-all, Wichita Falls is a terrific family town with plenty of natural beauty to go around. A real estate purchase in Wichita Falls is nothing if not a terrific investment.
