RC ElectionsRC elections are held when the NLRB National Labor Relations Board has received a petition requesting union representation. Union elections in general, which are held in the workplace, are governed by a number of rules and regulations. Failure to follow the rules could result in a voided election and legal consequences. Proper Conduct During RC ElectionsIf your company is facing RC elections, we suggest meeting with a labor relations specialist who can advise you on how to proceed. If union avoidance is your aim, a specialist in labor law can help you devise an anti-union campaign that is legally sound. What is considered interference and what is considered campaigning might be difficult to discern for someone who is not an expert. A labor relations specialist can also advise you how to act during the election itself. Your presence is required at the election. You are not, however, permitted to answer any questions as all questions must be directed to the NLRB agent. Union elections are conducted with secret-ballots. If you have any notion of finding out who voted for what, you are sorely mistaken. Tampering with the ballots will render the entire election useless and could result in legal ramifications. ![]() Get all Labor Relations articles via
