Life Insurance Lead

by Kathleen Gagne

The term "lead" is very familiar to most people in the sales industry, but a lead can come in any one of a huge variety of formats. For example, a simple lead is one in which you mention to a friend that you sell life insurance and the friend says something like, "My brother-in-law is looking for life insurance." Other leads can come from the company you work for. Leads can also come in the form of lead sheets or lists from telemarketing companies that do nothing but generate such information.

A life insurance lead is one that gives information about a contact that was made with a person who has indicated that s/he wants to buy life insurance. If you get a lead regarding homeowner's insurance and don't offer that product, then the lead is useless to you. In any case, whenever you're dealing with insurance leads, the more specific the lead, the better.

Life Insurance Leads Online

Since you're already on the Internet and searching for insurance leads, you probably know that it is now possible to get all of your leads online. Obviously, the most important concern is what we noted above; you want to buy leads that are specific to your range of products. This means a leads generator with the experience and expertise to provide you with solid leads at a reasonable price.

The key here is to look for a company whose callers are professional, well trained, and personable. The friendlier the callers, the more likely they will be to get you good information and, thus, good leads. Telemarketers who are friendly and who use a relationship-building approach will get you more personal information to work with. You should compare prices, understand their sales process, and ask for a sample lead sheet before you buy.
