B-24 LiberatorThe B-24 Liberator was an aircraft used in World War II. It was used as both a fighter plane, and as a transport plane. During the war over 12,000 of these planes were produced, making then one of the most popular planes used in that combat. If you're in the market for World War 2 collectibles you've probably seen one of these planes on things like t-shirts, coffee mugs, baseball caps, and military aircraft posters. These planes can be seen in person at museums, and other flight exhibits. The B-24 Liberator can reach speeds up to 290 miles per hours. It is equipped with ten machine guns for combat. These airplanes were efficient fighting machines. They were used by more countries than any other airplane in production during the war. There are only two of these planes capable of flight in existence today. Perhaps the best way to commemorate and honor the men and women who flew them is with collectibles. The B-24 Liberator MuseumThere is a museum dedicated to the B-24 Liberator in Colorado. You can find more information about that museum by logging onto the Internet, or by contacting the Colorado tourism board. If you get a chance to see one of these planes first hand you will be in awe at the size and grandeur. There's no better way to measure the historical significance of this aircraft than to view it in person. If you don't have time to make a trip to Colorado, the next best thing is memorabilia featuring this magnificent airplane. There are several websites dedicated to B-24 enthusiasts as well as sites for former pilots and crewmembers to register and share their experiences. You can find all kinds of information about items featuring these planes and other aircraft merchandise at flight museums and online. ![]() Get all Aviation Gifts articles via
