Radar Detectors and Jammers
Passive Radar DetectionWhen you think of passive radar detection, you will probably call to mind traditional detection devices that simply pick up an incoming targeting signal, sound off with a flurry of beeps and blurps, and leave you scrambling to quickly reduce your speed before it's too late. In some cases, these devices can sufficiently alert you to the presence of targeting devices to bring your speed down, but as targeting devices have become more sophisticated, so has the need to take a more active approach to signal detection. The answer to this situation has come in the development of jamming technology that goes into the design of many detection systems available today. Passive Radar Detection Vs. an Active ApproachYou could easily choose a passive radar detection system and have at least an advantage over no system at all. On the other hand, with more sophisticated jamming technologies in use, it would be worth your while to make a more informed investment. For example, in a top-of-the-line detection/jamming combo device, you have the capability not only to detect incoming signals, but to simultaneously jam that signal, rendering it unreadable by the targeting device. That moment of confusion, so to speak, in the targeting device, will give you the extra time you need to adjust your speed, if necessary, to comply with posted limits. That extra time could be the difference between continuing on your way unhindered, or a three-figure speeding ticket. When you look at the situation that way, making a more intelligent investment starts to make perfect sense. Whatever type of system you choose, again, you'll have an incomparable advantage over simply relying on your good luck! Of course, if you're going to purchase a system, why not choose one that will give you the absolute best chance of avoiding detection? Do so, and you're sure to lighten the load on both your insurance points and your wallet in the future! ![]() Get all Radar Detectors articles via
