Costa Rica tarpon fishing is largely done in the sheltered rivers and lagoons in the northeast coast of the Caribbean. Tarpon, the king of game fish, is found by the thousands from January through May. In fact, fishing is so tremendous, there is simply no need to go out onto the sea.

Always present in the waters of the east coast of Costa Rica, tarpon travel in huge schools in the ocean, and smaller pods in fresh water. In some areas, tarpon average 75 pounds, but fish larger than 150 pounds are caught every season!
