Costa Rica SnorkelingDelightful, Relaxing Costa Rica SnorkelingCosta Rica snorkeling and lazying about in 80-degree ocean water filled with beautiful creatures is truly an unforgettable experience. With the clear azure water as a backdrop, each colorful fish and graceful creature are placed in an idyllic setting of peacefulness and silence. Swimming here, swimming there, fish and diver coexist in a water-suspended realm. After warming in the tropical sun, you can slip into the waves and slowly explore the fascinating volcanic rock formations that are part of Costa Rica's Pacific coast. There's no telling what you'll come across when you dive Costa Rica! These formations protect any number of living things that thrive in these nutrient-rich waters. If, briefly, visibility is low, and the water cloudy, just realize it is because of the plankton and micro-organisms that sustain the hundreds of kinds of sea life that make Costa Rica snorkeling unique. What You'll SeeAny Costa Rica diving any place along the Pacific coast will turn up a multitude of sea creatures and plants. Some of the best snorkeling spots are south of Quepos, and along the Osa Peninsula. This area is out of the zone of the trade winds, and the sea is usually calm. Cano Island off Osa Peninsula is Costa Rica's prime diving and snorkeling spot. A biological reserve, this island offers snorkelers easy access from the beach. Combine water activities with camping at this spot, and you have a vibrant vacation. Schools of many kinds of fish are right off shore, and you will frequently see conches, turtles, moray eels, octopus, parrot fish, sponges, and sea cucumbers. The underwater world just beyond the sandy beaches is slower, more tranquil, quieter. Step from the sand, put your foot in the water, and enter the colorful realm you cannot experience from land.
