Belize Dive ResortsLet Belize Dive Resorts Arrange EverythingBelize dive resorts offer several options: make reservations with any of the offshore resorts; hire a boat from any of the dive resorts on the coast; reserve a spot on a liveaboard boat. Whichever arrangement you prefer, you will be in the midst of the balmy 80-degree waters of the inner Barrier Reef that runs along the Yucatan Peninsula and the length of Belize. These waters are usually calm, with visibility commonly at 100 feet, which create conditions for carefree Belize diving. Want to take a refresher diving course, or get certified? Belize dive resorts offer various levels, including discover scuba programs, and open water and advance open water courses. You can get certification for PADI, NAUII, and, in some places, NITROX diving. Be sure to bring any paperwork from any previous courses you have taken, and, of course, bring your C card. Gear is available from dive shops, but if you wear glasses or have a prescription lens in your mask, bring a mask with your prescription in it because Belize businesses do not currently provide this service. World-Famous Dive SpotsProfessional operations such as Ramon's Village and Tropica Beach Resort on Ambergris Caye Belize offer combination packages to suit a family or group that has divers and non-divers. Just offshore are the Hol Chan Reserve, five square miles of prime diving, and Shark Ray Alley, a break in the reef which nurse sharks and rays frequent. Consider night dives in these spectacular reserves; you'll see underwater sights you don't normally see in the daytime. Shrimp and lobsters may be walking around; parrot fishes will be safe in their cocoons; lemon or hammerhead sharks may be out and about. Many sea creatures feed at night, so you may be surprised by green and spotted eels swimming through the coral formations! For any dive other than snorkeling from shore, it is wise to accompany professional divers and guides who know the area well and can handle any situation that arises. San Pedro on Ambergris Caye has a Hyperbaric Chamber to handle any diving emergencies; it is available to dive operators 24 hours a day. ![]() Get all Latin America articles via
