Harry Potter And The Philosophers StoneHarry Potter and the Philosophers Stone--sound like a mistake, doesn't it? After all, we all know that the title of the first Harry Potter Book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Well, yes and no. While in the US version of the book Harry was indeed looking for a Sorcerer's Stone, in the UK version it was termed a Philosopher's Stone. So both are technically correct. But the differences in the books go deeper than just one different word in the title. Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone: The Definitive EditionThe publishers changed more than just the title for the US release of the book. The "American" edition contains a great deal of revision of the content itself. Language and names are changed, whole sentences are deleted, and chapter headings are revised in order to make the book more palatable to an American audience. Problem is, these revisions alter the product as the author envisioned it. The book released in America is different enough to warrant an entirely new designation as the American Edition. Only the book entitled Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone encompasses JK Rowling's true vision for the first book of the Harry Potter series. ![]() Get all Children's Books articles via
