Toddler Beds

by Joy MacKay

Toddler beds can be a difficult purchase to make. With children's tastes changing so much during their early years, it can be difficult to resist the fads in toddler beds. Additionally, you want something that is not just fun to sleep in, but affords the durability and safety you need.

Choosing Toddler Beds

The first thing that you should consider when thinking about toddler beds is the long-term functionality. Will this bed be sold when the child outgrows it? Will you need a convertible bed that can be used as a headboard and footboard later? How will the toddler bed go with other decor in your home?

Once you have answered those questions, you will want to turn to materials. Some toddler beds are entirely wooden, while others are made from steel or other materials. Think about which materials would best suit your decor and child.

Lastly, you'll want to think about style. Remember, much of the style of the room can be added with appropriate bedding. Therefore, you might think about a more plain bed with racecar sheets, rather than a bed in the shape of the racecar itself.
