Tahiti CruiseExotic Tahiti CruisesFor many travelers, Tahiti has been a dream cruise destination. Tahiti is a land of wonder, the largest of 118 islands that make up French Polynesia. Only 402 square miles in size, it boasts mountainous peaks and deep green rainforest valleys. There you will see impressive waterfalls and cool rivers and fields of taro and gorgeous flowers. Since Tahiti's population has grown, many vacationers choose to spend only a day or two there before seeking the more peaceful nearby islands of Bora Bora, Huahine, and Moorea. Don't skip Tahiti proper, however. There you can visit the Langoonarium where you can view undersea life firsthand. You can also explore the museum dedicated to Tahiti's most famous immigrant, Gaugin. Tahiti also offers great golf on a championship course, tennis, snorkeling, and, of course, scuba diving. The fishing and surfing are great, and you might even catch an excursion to Marlon Brando's Tetiaroa atoll. Tahiti Cruise Side TripsVisit Papeete, the capitol of French Polynesia, where you can find precious black pearls and dozens of boutiques and shops. Be sure to check out the Central Market to buy traditional Tahitian crafts. Of course, since it is French Polynesia, there are some excellent restaurants to choose from as well. Moorea is less than ten minutes away by air, and there are flights every 30 minutes, or you can take the ferry. Moorea offers wonderful white sandy beaches and the tranquil waters of Cook's Bay. Huahine, really two islands connected by a narrow isthmus, is surrounded by beautiful coral reefs and lush with dense rainforests. There you can visit Maeva Village to see archaeological sites that are a thousand years old. Your Tahiti cruise will take you to some of the most luxuriantly beautiful places in the world where you can relax and enjoy the peace that tempted Gaugin. ![]() Get all Cruises articles via
