An online credit report can be gathered from one of the three national credit bureau systems in the United States. These three companies include Equifax, TransUnion and Experian. These are the three recognized sources for accurate credit information. When you request a report, the source of the requested data comes from one of these three companies.

In an effort of improved ease and accessibility, these companies are offering their services online. Without having to make an appointment, visit a business office or even leave the confines of your home, you can obtain your own personal credit history. How you ask? It's simple.

Ten Years Worth of Credit History

Depending on the depth of information you require, you may be able to find a service that offers free online reports. By entering in your social security number over a secure browser, these credit bureaus can run reports based on all your activity. Typically, reports have information that can date back as far as ten years.
