Free Credit Check

by Jessica Duquette

A free credit check can only be found on the internet. Other credit services often charge hefty fees for the same information that you can access through a secure web browser. By entering some of your personal identification information, you can download a complete and free credit check in a matter of minutes.

Why Do I Need a Free Credit Check?

If you are planning on purchasing a car, a dishwasher or a piece of property, the financing company is going to want to know about you. By running a credit report, they can see what your history and patterns are of buying and paying bills. This information establishes you at a certain percentage of risk.

The fewer open accounts and the less debt incurred on your report translate to a higher credit rating. The higher the rating, the more likely you are of being approved for financing. Approval for financing is based on formulas that determine your debt to income ratio.

Debt Vs. Income

For many people in the United States, their income does not offset the amount of debt incurred. Forty percent debt is usually considered the highest allowable amount to qualify for additional financing. That means if your monthly bills add up to more than 40% of your income, many financial institutions will not grant you additional monies.
