Hair Restoration ClinicChoosing to have hair restoration surgery is a big step, but it doesn't have to be scary one. Doctors are getting better and better at the procedure each year, and as new techniques and tools are developed the results continue to improve as well. If you're wondering what the whole process of hair restoration surgery is like, you'll be happy to learn that it isn't the major surgery you thought it might be. Visiting a Hair Restoration ClinicThe first thing to remember about having the procedure done (which will undoubtedly ease your mind if you're afraid of hospitals) is that in most cases it only requires a short visit to the doctor's office. You don't need to go to a hospital--and in fact the entire procedure can be performed under a local anesthetic. This means that you don't have to worry about full anesthesia and its adverse side effects. Once your scalp has been numbed the doctor will begin removing "micrografts" from your donor areas. These areas are where your hair is thickest: typically on the back and sides of the head. In the past, doctors used to take large circular "plug" sections out, but in recent years they have found that using tiny micrografts is much safer and more effective. Once the surgeon has prepared all of the micrografts, he then surgically inserts them in the bald areas of your head that need more hair. The hair follicles are individually placed at specific angles to match the natural pattern of your hair. Once the procedure is done you are free to go home and enjoy your "new" head of hair! ![]() Get all Hairloss articles via
