Movie Rental GalleryOf all the movies I've recently rented through a mail–order DVD rental service, a few have stood out as favorites. Pixar's "The Incredibles" was one of the best films I've seen this year. In addition to a beautiful design, standout animation, amazing action, and great characters, this computer animated film about a family of superheroes boasts far better writing than most of the movies I've seen in the past year. Movie Rental Gallery Titles For The Whole FamilyMore often than not, I wind up watching movies with my nephews, who range in age from six to 10. While some adults might find it difficult to select films that they can enjoy as much as children in this age group, we can usually find a few to agree on--especially if we search outside of what are traditionally considered children's films. One such film that was unanimously enjoyed by all three nephews was the original "Jaws." Not having seen the film for over ten years, I was surprised to realize that Steven Spielberg's "Jaws" is actually very tame by today's standards, and contains a minimum of gore, or anything else that would be objectionable for younger viewers. To a modern audience the film plays out more as adventure than the suspense thriller it was originally intended to be, and even the youngest of the three nephews thoroughly enjoyed the classic man vs. nature tale. Another "non-family film" DVD that tested well among my nephews was "The Truman Show," starring Jim Carrey. This DVD also contains virtually no objectionable material that would be unsuitable for younger audiences—such as coarse language, violence, or adult situations. While the story and themes are sophisticated enough for adult viewers, the humor is broad enough, and the premise is interesting enough to keep young viewers entertained as well. ![]() Get all Movie Rentals articles via
