The Xbox video game adaptation of "Spider Man 2," based on the blockbuster 2004 movie, remains a popular rental choice despite being released nearly a year ago. Players control the web-slinging Marvel Comics hero on an adventure through New York City. Though the overall game storyline incorporates elements from the hit movie, a wealth of villains from Spider Man's rogue's gallery are thrown into the melee for good measure.

In the Xbox "Spider Man 2" game, players can maneuver through a three-dimensional New York in any direction they choose. Rather than forcing the character to follow a preset path through the story, the game allows for a lot of freedom of movement and exploration. Using Spider Man's wall-crawling ability and webshooters, players can travel nearly anywhere in the virtual city, encountering a variety of crimes at random points along the way. For each crime he foils, Spider man earns points that can be used to purchase additional abilities and items.

As you move Spider Man through the city, you eventually encounter situations that advance the story, leading the hero off on different missions. The storyline features the "Spider Man 2" movies villain, Doctor Octopus, who along with all of the other major characters, is designed to resemble his cinematic counterpart. The cast of the movie, including Tobey Maguire (Spider Man), and Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus) lend their voice talents to the game for added authenticity. The game is also narrated by cult-favorite B-movie star Bruce Campbell, who had cameo roles in each of the Spider Man movies.

In addition to completing the movie storyline, players encounter a wealth of characters from the Spider Man comic books. Gamers must battle longtime villains like Rhino, Mysterio, and Shocker. The game also features a team-up with Black Cat, and alien invasion over the Statue of Liberty, killer robot clowns, and more.
