A Toothbrush Should Last Three Months

Your toothbrush is the most important instrument you have in order to ward off gum disease. Most of you probably own a manual toothbrush. Still more of you are probably using the same brush you were six months ago. Proper brush maintenance is crucial in the avoidance of gum-related diseases.

If you are adamant about keeping your manual brush, be sure that you are using it effectively. How long does it take you to brush your teeth each morning and night? If you're brushing for less than two full minutes, you aren't doing an adequate job. In order to reach each individual tooth, at least two minutes of effective brushing is required.

Fight Gum Disease with an Electric Brush

Consider purchasing an electric toothbrush. These recent inventions remove the build up of plaque. They can reach every surface of each tooth in your mouth. They can also remove the plaque and tartar that begins to build up below the gum line, which a manual brush can not do.
