Goodwrench EngineLike all of the manufacturer's motors, the GM Goodwrench engine is fully backed and certified, so you know you can rely on it no matter what your objective. Some buyers require high towing capacity for their boats and storage blocks, while others are content with a small block engine that gets good mileage. Fortunately, there are Goodwrench engines that meet every need. If you have your heart set on fuel economy without compromising power-delivery, the 4.3-liter Goodwrench is the engine for you. This Vortec 4300 offers enough torque for most sport-utility applications and even more industrial jobs. With a counter-rotating balance shaft and hydraulic lifters, the 4.3-liter is one of the quietest, smoothest-running engines out there. Bigger Goodwrench EnginesFor a powerful V8 small block, you may want to step up to the 5.7-liter model. Opt for either the industrial four-bolt main or the standard two-bolt caps. Either way, the 5.7's overhead valves supply high torque at a reduced RPM for great start-up power. Of course, you can always ratchet up the juice another notch with the large-displacement 7.4-liter Goodwrench engine. If you've got heavy jobs such as lugging trailers or other heavy loads, you don't want to settle for anything less. Often referred to as the workhorse Goodwrench, the 7.4 will get you to the beach, the mountains, the desert, or any other destination with little effort. ![]() Get all Auto Parts articles via
