Chevy Intake ManifoldYour Chevy intake manifold works hand-in-hand with your cylinder heads to regulate the amount of air entering your compression chamber. This in turn determines the mixture of air to fuel, which affects compression, which, of course, largely determines your engine's power. Hence, even a part as small as an intake manifold is directly connected to your crate motor's output. For this reason car enthusiasts are just as exacting in their Chevy intake manifold specs as they are in choosing their engines. Every part matters in this integrated system. And as with most other specific engine parts, there's a wide array of options when it comes to the size, material, and overall performance of your intake manifold. Different Chevy Intake ManifoldsFor a few hundred dollars, you can find a bow tie manifold that's suited for competition. The bow tie design is similar to that of the raised runner intake and performs the same essential function. But since there's such a diversity of engine styles themselves, there are just as many variations in the manifolds that complement them. The bow tie manifold is manufactured for use with the bow tie cylinder heads discussed earlier. High-rise intake manifolds, on the other hand, typically allow better ventilation, which is a critical factor in your carburetor's air-to-fuel ratio. Another advantage of the high-rise manifold is its cast-iron construction, which tends to withstand rust and corrosion better than other crate motor manifolds. ![]() Get all Auto Parts articles via
