Unusual Christmas Tree OrnamentsThe best way to search for unusual Christmas tree ornaments is not to search for them at all! Often the most unusual ones did not start out as Christmas tree decorations. Take a look around your house and see if there are household items that you can turn into beloved holiday favorites. When you create your own decorations from things you find around you, you are putting your own memories on the tree. Even if cheap Christmas ornaments are not your goal, you will save money that can then be spent on gifts for those you love. Making your own trimmings will give your tree an old-fashioned feel, just like the colonials or pioneers of early America would have experienced. Making Your Own Unusual Christmas Tree OrnamentsA fun and easy project to try is making your own salt dough ornaments. Recipes for salt dough are easy to find online or in your local library. Using Christmas cookie cutters bake a batch of salt dough cookies. Don't forget to poke a hole in the top of your design - you'll need it later. When the cookies have cooled, decorate them with glitter, ribbons, and paints. Tie a piece of wire-edged ribbon through the hole at the top to hang it from the tree. With simple projects like this, even children can easily create their own unusual Christmas tree ornaments. ![]() Get all Collectibles articles via
