Micro Injection Molding

by Jill Morrison

Micro injection molding is a process used for manufacturing miniature parts. Products can be created that weigh less than a gram, but are still precise in design. Some companies make components that are so small; they are barely visible to the naked eye.

Micro Injection Molding Qualities

Micro injection molding is commonly used in medical, telecommunication, computer, connector, industrial, automotive, and electronic fields. Medical and electronic equipment continues to miniaturize, so smaller components are increasingly demanded. Miniature parts are also needed for insert molding of products.

Micro injection molding has many advantages over traditional injection molding. The tooling is less expensive, for instance. Companies will also save money on material costs since the products are much smaller.

Injection molding companies can make products in low or high volume orders. Contract manufacturers may be hired to help you design and create products if you do not have the means to produce your own products. Injection molding allows you to make products that can be simple in design or have more complex configurations.
