RFI

by Jill Morrison

RFI stands for Radio Frequency Interference. It can be created when there are spikes in electronic signals. This may occur with any type of electronic circuit when currents drastically rise and fall.

RFI noises must be filtered to meet the standards of the FCC and CE. It is wise to filter them to prevent interference with electronic circuit functions. You can block the noise with common mode line filters.

RFI Coatings

RFI coating can be very protective and is necessary for most electronic circuits. They protect components from radiated electromagnetic interference and electrostatic discharge. Coatings use conductive pigments to protect components from extreme conditions.

Coatings are available in a few different forms. Common types of coatings include sheeting, tape, foams, and elastomer gaskets. All of these methods will help to protect sensitive equipment for electronic interference.
