An immune system supplement can help you stay healthy all year round. Vitamins and minerals are crucial to keeping your immune system healthy and able to fight off bacteria, viruses, and cancers. Some of the most important vitamins for your immune system are vitamin D, vitamin C, calcium, zinc, iron, and magnesium.

Vitamin D helps your body break down calcium, necessary to avoid a loss of bone density or rickets. Magnesium is needed to regulate the amount of calcium in the body (too much of which can actually be harmful). Your immune system is the only line of defense you have against viral and bacterial infections that cause (among other things) colds, the flu, malaria, hepatitis, and HIV. Your immune system works by keeping harmful organisms out of your body. If something should happen to slip past its defenses, it will attack the organism from inside the body before it can replicate itself.
