Strengthen Immune System

by Jenni Wiltz

To help strengthen immune system, you should eat foods that fight and prevent disease naturally. Fruits that contain vitamin C are particularly recommended, such as raspberries, strawberries, kiwi, cantaloupe, and oranges. Foods that are a good dietary source of magnesium are also good bets, including broccoli, avocados, and spinach.

Foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids have garnered a lot of media attention in the past few years for their benefits to heart health and immune system boosting. Look for walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, salmon, tuna, and sardines. Unfarmed fish are the safest; fish raised on farms have recently been linked to unhealthy levels of mercury.

Healthy Living Will Help Strengthen Immune System

Exercising three times a week for twenty minutes each time will help keep your body in shape and able to defend you from attacking viruses. If you smoke, your body's immune defenses are lowered and you are more vulnerable to toxins. Maintaining a healthy body weight is also important; obesity is linked to both heart disease and a decrease in immune system activity.

An immune system supplement can help give you the vitamins and minerals you may not get from the foods you eat. If your diet includes lots of foods high in saturated fat, refined carbohydrates, caffeinated sodas, and alcohol, you're almost certainly not getting the nutrition you need. To strengthen immune system, try to incorporate three to five servings daily of fruits and occasional servings of protein-rich meats and fish.
