Illinois Child Support

by Jessica Duquette

Illinois child support does not require completed support payments in order to grant visitation rights. Unfortunately these two court orders are separate and independent of one another. So even though the mother or father may not be supporting the child financially, they do have full rights to visit their son or daughter in accordance with the court decision.

Collecting Illinois Child Support

Whether you have not received a payment in two months or two years from the child's mother or father you are entitled to collect that money. In Illinois child support can be collected through the use of third party recovery firms. These agencies are privately sponsored and are not affiliated with the state or federal government.

The difference between state and federal efforts when compared to private agencies is a matter of time and attention. Thousands of cases are brought before a court in the state of Illinois and each of those requires basic administrative effort. Tracking down the parents and looking into each case is time consuming and often unproductive from a parent's point of view.

Focus and Determination

By enlisting the aid of private institutions, you will notice an intensified effort to find and collect your money. Even if you don't know where the absent parent is located, these people will do the leg work necessary to find him or her and proceed with the collection process. All of this effort is done up front for free until your child support money begins to roll in. At that point, the agency collects a percentage of the recovered money.
