Eclectic Santee Real Estate

Santee real estate is not homogeneous, and that is its charm. Homes were built individually over the years before incorporation in 1980 by people who wanted to be out of the cities and into the sparsely-settled foothills. Mobile homes were part of the casual real estate atmosphere that made Santee a favorite with people who loved the weather and loved the solitude.

As more visitors became residents, development included tract homes, luxury homes, and condominiums. Today, a prospective buyer will find in Santee real estate a variety of housing that has always made this an interesting area. This is still a place for solitude, and it has become a good town in which to raise a family.

Community Spirit

At about 350 feet above sea level, Santee homes are situated in a landscape whose weather is still tempered by the Pacific Ocean, but whose vegetation is giving way to chaparral and riparian systems. Over the hills to the east lies the 600,000-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Santee is nestled along the foothills with other spirited communities: Lakeside, La Mesa, Spring Valley, Alpine, Lemon Grove, and El Cajon.

These communities have formed the San Diego East County Economic Development Council that coordinates and encourages responsible, valuable business in the area. Although each town in East San Diego real estate is quite distinctive, with its own flavor and atmosphere, all the towns have an overriding interest in maintaining the fabulous quality of life that characterizes East County. A healthy economy, bolstered by businesses appropriate to the area, is doing just that.
