Fibromyalgia Diet

Fibromyalgia diets can be very helpful in treating the sometimes debilitating symptoms of this disorder. Fibromyalgia tends to affect the body's muscles, rendering them weak, sore, and tight, and thereby causing a great deal of discomfort and pain. Such symptoms are chronic in nature, and often continue over long periods of time, though varying in intensity.

There are no known causes or cures for this condition, meaning that those affected often need to look for creative ways in which to deal with the problem. On of these methods is to adjust one's diet in order to better provide the body with nutrients that lessen the symptoms. Careful planning of meals and supplement intake can be a great help in dealing with the issues of this malady.

Fibromyalgia Diets: Magnesium and Thiamine

Magnesium is one mineral that greatly aids the muscles of the body in relaxing and hurting less. Root vegetables are one excellent provider of magnesium and should certainly be considered as a part of a fibromyalgia diet. Do note, however, that multivitamins are not always the best way in which to build up magnesium intake, as some of the other vitamins included actually work against the establishment of high levels of magnesium.

Another helpful vitamin to consider is vitamin B-1, or thiamine. This vitamin can be easily ingested through a synthetic supplement called benfotiamine, which in testing has not caused adverse affects on other medications. Consult with a medical professional to find out which combination of vitamins and minerals in your diet and supplements will work best for you and your symptoms.
