Shingles Herpes Zoster Condition

by Kevin Little

The shingles herpes zoster condition is quite a puzzler when it comes to its origins. No one knows exactly why it occurs at all, or when it might crop up. The only constraint seems to be that only people who have dealt previously with chicken pox are susceptible to herpes zoster.

In terms of symptoms, zoster is nasty indeed. The first stage is a tingling or itching sensation in (normally) one are of the body, generally on only the right or left side. This is followed by a painful rash and, later, very painful blisters.

Shingles Herpes Zoster Condition Relief

While there is no way to simply eliminate the virus (except to wait it out), there are treatments available to you to fight the pain of herpes zoster symptoms. Prescription painkiller are a fairly common treatment--yes, the pain can be that bad. You can also try poultices, over the counter pain relievers, or dietary supplements, some of which have been a very effective form of treatment.

Once the blisters appear, there will be two to three weeks of discomfort ahead. Thankfully, the shingles herpes zoster condition, like chicken pox, tends only to occur once. There are some cases, however, in which the effects can linger for a long time afterward; make sure to consult a physician in such a case.
