Portable Garage

by Jeremy Horelick

A portable garage is an ideal choice when it comes to fast and affordable protection for tools, cars, boats, or other valuables. Say, for instance, you've just purchased a brand new car, but haven't completed construction on your new home. You need a place to protect it from the elements, birds, and other common hazards that can ruin your custom paint job.

Portable garages go up with minimal assembly, usually requiring a few hand tools but no power drilling or sawing. Garages use pre-drilled frames that practically snap together but still employ galvanized steel and wind brace supports for sturdiness and durability. And with fire-retardant and UV-protected covers, your garage should give you additional peace of mind.

The Uses of a Portable Garage

The most common reason people purchase portable garages is to store cars and boats. But that doesn't mean your structure is relegated to those uses exclusively. Use your garage as a workspace for your own projects or even rent it out to others looking for a place to set up temporary shop. Or simply use it as a storage facility that you can zip up and leave unattended, even in the harsh winter months.

You may find garages such as these through your local home furnishings store, or you may have to travel a bit further. If your hardware store doesn't carry portable garages either, the most obvious place to look is the Internet, where online vendors will ship your purchase directly to you for little or no extra cost. There's a smattering of discount home furnishings suppliers as well, so it's possible to save big bucks, which can be a major plus on such a mammoth purchase.
