Rf Generator

by Patricia Tunstall

Any induction mechanism utilizes the principle that electric current produces a magnetic field, and a changing magnetic field produces an electric current. Variations in the arrangement of the apparatus, the magnetic force field, or the electric current, result in different machines that perform different functions.

One example is the transformer, which involves changing the current in one circuit to affect the current in a nearby circuit. Another is the electric generator, which uses the relative movement between a conductor of electricity and a source of the magnetic field. Such variations alter the electrical and magnetic energy output.

Radio Frequency

Radio frequencies are electromagnetic waves with a frequency or wavelength useful for radio communication. Short wave radios operate on high frequencies--1,600 to 30,000 kilohertz (kHz). AM (amplitude modulation) radio uses frequencies from about 540 to 1,800 kHz. FM (frequency modulation) radio uses a band from 88 to 108 megahertz (MHz).

Rf Generator and Induction Equipment

An rf (radio frequency) generator, then, is simply a generator that produces rf energy at a frequency adequate for induction heating. The rf generator has the precise power control and reliability of other induction equipment. These solid state power supplies have typical options: infrared temperature control, remote heat stations, and various cabinet designs, for example. Rf generators have a range of power and frequency to meet the needs of any operation, from soldering to melting metals.
