Pilates Equipment

by Jill Morrison

Using Pilates equipment will encourage your body to be healthy and free of injury in exercising. The Pilates method uses controlled movements that center the body along with proper breathing techniques. A Pilates machine will help you to have better control of your body, both mentally and physically.

The Pilates method was developed for dancers and professional athletes in the 1920s. It helped athletes to build and restore muscle tone and strength, and to fully engage the abdominal muscles at the same time. Today, Pilates equipment can be used to perform the same types of exercises that were originally created, but in a safer environment.

Features of Pilates Equipment

Pilates equipment such as the Pilates Pro and the Pilates Premier will help you to develop tighter stomach muscles, buttocks, hips and thighs. Both machines allow you to perform 32 different exercises on a heavy duty frame with comfortable and adjustable support cushions. Each machine also comes with a personal workout video and a workout chart for greater knowledge and guidance in performing Pilates exercises.

If you would like to save money, you can always purchase a Pilates mat and perform the basic exercises yourself. Pilates videos are also available for home workouts. However, Pilates machines are extremely beneficial in assisting you in exercises. They will guide you in proper form, support you when needed, and will minimize the risk of injury.
