Treadmill

by Jill Morrison

A Treadmill is a machine used for stationary walking, jogging, and running for exercise. People tend to receive great benefits from these machines because running and walking is natural and you are more likely to stick to that type of exercise program. In the treadmill industry, there are many options in companies, models, and prices; but you often get what you pay for.

Treadmill Options

When choosing a treadmill, you have a few options to consider. The motor and horsepower is an important consideration. You should look at the Continuous Duty rating to see the differences in motors. The Peak Duty ratings are not as important to consider.

The stability and noise level are also important to consider, especially in a residential setting. You may need to hear over the machine if you plan on listening to music or watching TV while exercising. Some companies offer extra quiet operating systems, such as Spirit, which has the Whisper Quiet system for minimal noise on a heavy duty motor and chassis.

The workout features for exercising are important so that you do not become bored with exercising. Some companies offer many different program options for cardio, endurance, interval, weight loss, or manual control. You can also find machines with consoles that give feedback on speed, distance, calories burned, pulse, laps, elevation, and time so that you can monitor your workout progress.
